The sky pales from inky to bruised and we realize we’ve talked through the night. When you grab my hand and take off toward the park, past sleepy bodegas and empty cabs, I realize for the first time that it’s all magic. Some parallel universe I’ve never seen that’s always been right in front of my eyes. We spin and sing and spill out: dazzlingly human, infinitely impermanent… Maybe guardian angels are real.
