The Western Front. My boots are slowly sinking. This trench is my own muddy hell. It’s been weeks since they took out the rest of my platoon, but I’ve managed to keep myself alive. I shake off the stench and dig my rifle back into my shoulder. Through my scope, enemy insignias flash and I salivate…what I’d give to exact my bloody revenge without abandon. But this time requires patience. Rain smatters my helmet. I grit my teeth and wait.
